INTERNATIONAL FOREST INDUSTRIES (IFI)

Launched in December 2007, INTERNATIONAL FOREST INDUSTRIES (IFI) serves the needs of the global forest & sawmilling industries.

IFI covers everything from silviculture through timber harvesting to forwarding and haulage to sawmills and pulp mills. We also give full coverage to sawmill activities from timber handling in woodyards and at the mill through to the cutting technology and the logistics involved in carrying them to the customer for downstream processing. In addition, IFI covers biomass collection and processing. The coverage applies to both editorial and circulation – reaching the buying influences for all the equipment involved in that long chain.

IFI fills a void within forest related industries that manufacturers in timber harvesting, sawmill operations and biomass management have believed to exist for many years. There was no voice for the global industry to discuss its technical and management successes – now there is.

Published six times per year, each issue of IFI contains the following regular features. (Your editorial input is always welcome):

Saw Points: A collection of the latest news from forest industries from all over the globe.

Operational Focus: One of the IFI team reports from the field on one of the world's many forestry projects including logging and sawmill operations. We will explore and report first hand who is running them, who supplies them, how they operate and what makes them successful.

Sustainability: The issue of sustainability has never been more prominent in forest industries than it is today. This section of IFI examines the steps taken by different businesses and governments to ensure the responsible longevity of forest industries.

Cover Story: IFI goes into detail on the biggest issues facing forest industries today.

Cutting Edge: Forestry and sawmill equipment is constantly evolving to service the needs of their industries. IFI will keep you up to date on the latest equipment breakthroughs and applications.

Biomass & Bioenergy: The burgeoning bioenergy industry has highlighted the need for forest industries to take advantage of underutilised biomass resources. The biomass collection and processing sector is demanding more attention from equipment suppliers and, therefore, more scrutiny from IFI. We keep an ever watchful eye on this developing market..

High Profile: International forest industries have some colourful characters who have plenty of stories to tell. IFI goes one-on-one with some of the industry heavyweights to pick their brains on a wide range of topics.

World Wood: Each edition, IFI will focus on the forest industries of a particular country that is either a world forestry leader or an emerging power. We'll be a looking at the companies that are operating there, the types of operations the country lends itself to, the issues confronting companies operating in that country and, of course, the essential equipment/tools/contractors needed to be successful.
